An Easy DIY Spray to Keep Your Home Gym Equipment Fresh!

An Easy DIY Spray to Keep Your Home Gym Equipment Fresh!

Whether you sweat a little or a lot, it’s always a good idea to wipe down your equipment after a workout to remove dirt, germs and odor. Mix up a batch of this simple spray to lightly clean and disinfect your mat and accessories post-workout and keep your home gym feeling fresh!

Here's What You Need:

Water

• We recommend purified or distilled water over tap

Vinegar

• You'll want to use white distilled or cleaning vinegar which is proven to break down dirt, oil and bacteria.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

• Tea tree is an all-natural disinfectant and is also effective at eliminating odors

Glass Spray Bottle

• We think 16oz is a good size, but any size bottle will do!

Optional: Additional Essential Oils

• This is purely for aromatics so choose what smells good to you! You could mix in a couple drops of eucalyptus oil to give your spray spa-vibes, lemon for an energy boost or lavender for post-workout zen.

How to Make It:

Fill your spray bottle ¾ of the way with water, then add ¼ part vinegar. Add 5-10 drops of tea tree essential oil (depending on how big your bottle is) plus a couple drops of an extra oil if you choose, then shake it all up!

How to Use It:

After your workout, spray a light mist over your mat and blocks and wipe with a microfiber cloth (we reach for our recycled sweat towel for clean-up.) Then, allow everything to air dry.

Taking a couple minutes at the end of your workout to clean up is a great habit to get into, and it’ll help maintain your mat and fitness accessories for years to come!

*We suggest always testing your spray on an inconspicuous area first to make sure the cleaning solution doesn’t discolor or cause damage.
